I speak from experience here. My cousin moved out of his family home and left behind his Maine Coon cat. The cat was left outside to fend for herself. His stepmother was trying to catch the cat to put her down.

I agreed to take the cat for the weekend until someone would take it. That weekend turned into 7 years - LOL.

She lived to be about 20 and was a sweetie until crate time :)

Best of luck again!

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

HELP!! Desperate!! UPDATE :)

i'm happy to say Pepper has a new home. We'd brought him here so he was at least cared for and not alone but kept trying to find him a home. With three dogs and another cat already in residence he was a little overwhelmed. Today I received a call in response to one of my flyers. The woman came to meet him and explained she'd recently had to euthanize her cat of 14 years due to feline lukemia. She's an elderly lady and said she was looking for an older cat instead of a kitten because she didn't want it to outlive her.

Pepper was affectionate right away as I knew he would be. He's always been a lover. She liked him immediately. So we gathered his things and she took him home.

She called a little while later to say he was making the transition just fine. He went about the house checking it out, let her son who was visiting hold and pet him, ate some, and was being very loving toward her. She said while we were talking he was rubbing against her legs. We told her if for some reason it didn't end up working out she could bring him back and she said if it did that I could visit him , which made my day her being a total stranger to me.

Anyway, it sounds as if it's going to work out for everyone. Pepper has a new home, Dorothy has a new companion, and I can relax knowing he'll be safe, happy, and sound.

Thanks to everyone who wished us luck and/or stopped to read!
