HELP!! Desperate!!

This is a last resort attempt to find a home for my Maine Coon cat Pepper, 8 years old, neutered, front declawed. My son wanted to keep him but when he moved to a new apartment he was told "NO PETS". Currently my poor baby is alone nearly all the time at my previous house, which due to divorce is on the market to be sold. I'm unable to keep Pepper myself and this is breaking my heart. I'm desperately, desperately seeking a home for him. He's got a sweet temperment and right now is attention starved because my ex is never at the house where Pepper lives right now. I don't have the heart to take him to the humane society because of his age I know he'd be hard to place and I fear what they'd do.

Anyone in the Central PA area who may be able to take him in or suggest another who would be willing please send me PM.

There's a Main Coon Rescue associated with this site and hopefully they can help you. I'd hate too see Pepper get surrendered to The Humane Society. Breed Rescue sites are great places to get animals rehomed. Best of luck to you and Pepper.

OH thank you!!!

I was just prepared to edit my post saying that I'd even deliver Pepper depending on distance. He's my baby, my oldest son had asked if he could keep Pepper after my divorce and I agreed since at the time I wasn't able to take him with me. Now though Brandon can't have him at his new apartment. Pepper is virtually alone at my old place even though my ex still "lives" there. I try and stop in on him often to make sure he's got food and water, but it's the lovin' he's most needful of right now. He's very lonely and runs to my arms every time I stop over.

I will try the rescue site and you have no idea how much I appreciate the information. Like I said, he's my baby and I wish I didn't have to place him but with three dogs, and an existing alpha male cat (who has ALL his claws) I just don't know how Pepper would fare.

I really hope Pepper finds a "forever" family. Maine Coons are great cats and breed rescues have very loyal supporters. Hopefully your ex can house Pepper until the right family/person comes along. It's too bad you aren't closer to me as I could foster her. I'd rather see Pepper a little lonely for a little while than to be relinquished to a shelter. She's going to be a great cat for somebody!

Thanks for the "good luck's" from everyone! I hope he finds a "forever" family too! Sadly my ex is NOT a reliable person to care for Pepper. He's already neglected him while Pepper's been living there which is why I stop by frequently.

I did visit the Maine Coon rescue site but it's not quite ready for posts yet. I did find a phone number which I'll be calling to see if they can help. You're absolutely right about Maine's, they are very loveable, intelligent, wonderful pets, friends really. One of my VP's asked our local YMCA to which they said yes, so a lot of people are trying to help. It's a time issue right now....
