Cats are expensive

So a few weeks ago my cat started peeing around the house which we attributed to getting 2 puppies a couple months ago and him marking his territory, wrong. Apparently, male cats can get their urethra "block up" as the end is the smallest part of it or something and females dont have this problem. In the past few days he hadnt been going much and only getting a couple drops out when he did and letting out some strange meows so when the vet opened this morning we took him in.

His bladder was "enourmous" and they said we only have 12 hours from when they get blocked till things get real serious, like kidneys shutting down. Right now hes being anesthetized and getting a catheter put in... till monday when they'' take it out and see if he can go on his own, if not then it'll prolly require surgery. And then of course the money, they wanted a 200 dollar down payment of the 675 dollar estimate, and the surgery if needed will cost a lot more, one of the cats my parents had many years ago had the same problem.

Pretty awful day, woke up from the best dream ever to all this. I hope they accept they peanuts I get paid in.

Sorry to hear that your cat is not doing well, hopefully they can get him back to his old self without having to do any surgery. It is always hard when our furry friends are not feeling well

Poor kitty :( I hope he's ok and that you don't have to put him through the surgery for his benefit as well as your wallet's.

Good luck and let us know how he is on Monday.

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Awwwww.... he'll be back in no time. I think the hardest part is not being able to be with them when they're in this type of situation.

It is hard when we have to be seperated from our pets, especially when they are not feeling well. Hoping that he is feeling better and that you will be able to have him back home with you soon.

Just called the vet and he passed the blockage fine and is doing good, have to call back monday to see when we can get him. Hope that means no surgery... Either way, cant wait, its pretty lonely when hes not yelling at me to give him something or let him in the garage.

Of course no surgery will mean finally getting around to setting up a new tank.
