Heat lamp should be on all the time, but temp in the tank should vary from end to end so he can control his own body temp. If he gets too cold he can't digest his food properly.

The ball pythons are my favorite of all the snakes for pet purposes. I haven't been able to have one since I bought my house, city ordinance against all constrictor snakes. I miss my snakes so badly.

tank should be 90 on one side, 80 on other, some ppl will say you should let the temps drop to 80 on hot side and 70 on cool for the night. to make it more natural, i have done it both ways, and could never tell a difference.. and you realy need to look into feeding frozen/thawed food for you snake.. do a google search and you will see why.
