Texas Cichlid

Family: Cichlidae

Scientific Name: Herichthys cyanoguttatus

Origin and Habitat: The only cichlid to reside in the United States. Though it is said to be rather aggressive my personal experience so far is that he has his grumpy days but is usually well behaved and coincides with the other fish well. Some may become very aggressive with age and will not tolerate any other fish as they become very territorial

Compatibility/Temperament: 4

Texas Cichlid Diet

The texas is an omnivorous fish. Not a very fussy eater it will eat flakes, pellets, blood worms and brine shrimp with no fuss. But variety is the spice of life.

Size

Can reach sizes up to 12 inches/30cms.

Water parameters for Texas Cichlid

The Texas Cichlid should be kept in an aquarium with the temperature ranging from 62 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and a Ph of around 7.4.

Description

A light grey fish, with small metallic/shiny turquoise spots over it's body. Usually has black dots down its back.
