One of my filters gets direct sunlight, and the other has a 6,500k CFL in a desklamp pointing at it, the plants seem happy.

That filter looks interesting, seems like it gives you substrate for the plants? I just removed the lid and the sponge from my AquaClear and the plants are just bare root. Same with my Azoo palm filter.

you can get the media from an aquaponic store. it adds extra surface area. i wonder if biomax would work the same way too? it would probably hold onto detritus more though.i wonder what the maintenance is on that aqua duo filter.
