Suprise goldfish...URG

ok for my birthday my parents suprised me with two Goldfish...not that bad but...I only had a 1.5gallon bowl to put them in! D= and the petstore didn't accept them back...so I was stuck with them...


Now I've gotten a 5gallon tank...it's still way to small...but it's a lot better then 1.5 gallons.... ._. their just sitting in a container getting use to the water right now...hopefully they will at least be a bit happier...

>.< this is why I hate "suprise" pets...your not even ready for them...sad thing is these Goldfish look very nice...;-;

I have heard that gold fish are very dirty compared to other fish & they need alot of space compared to other fish because of this ,so that being aid if you only have a small container for them if it were me id at least do frequent water changes....i was told for ONE Goldfish you should have a 20 gallon tank & a filter for a 30 or 50 gallon tank ...they are cold water fish so they are ok w/o a heater ...you can always try Criagslist & find them another home if you wanted to :)

Right now 5 gallons is all I can get for them...their still very small thought...so it is a lot better then a 1.5 gallon bowl...

yea the small ones are cute :) I love Goldfish ,but like i said they put out much more ammonia than other fish ,& they grow fast too ! if they are regular Goldfish they are hardier than the "egg shaped " king ...post photos if you can :) maybe by the time they grow too big for the home they are in ,by then you can get a bigger one :) They are so pretty enjoy them ! I was going to get an Oranda or a lion head...but then i found out they are messy so....

Maybe you could find them a home with someone who has a pond? I have a bunch of comets in my pond and they are THRIVING.

Ok I took some pictures...right now their getting use to the tank thats why their in the corner from what I'm getting...they are active just in that corner...also...keep in mind I was not prepared at all considering this was a suprise gift...so their tank is...bare...very...bare...I only had some marbles and some marble pebbles that wheren't used in berrys tank...and some plants that didn't work with berry...the filter is also from berrys tank...it seems strong enough for it...but I dunno...I feel bad for these fish...;-; but I don't know anyone that will take them...or that has a pond, I don't really think they will last long anyway...I'll try to get them better stuff for their tank as well...I haven't named them because if I do I might become attached and it's un-certain if they will live...I'm trying to do my best for them...I just fed em and they ate it up...so yeah...at least their eating...then again I never heard of a Goldfish that didn't eat... ._.

I find they look cute...one of em looks like a Koi and the other has "lipstick" ... ._. I really do feel bad for them...I'm still wondering if I should name them something...

Right after I posted this they started wandering around the tank looking around...so I guess thats good...

Awws, they are really cute! Poor little guys. Do you only have one pet store in town? Nobody will take them back?

Surprise pets are a bad idea, I agree. Having a pet takes so time and dedication - it should really be pet you know the person will love, IMO.
