This is the only forum I've been on so far and I love it! People just suggest and recommend things and by no means do you have to take the advice. We just feel like we should tell you things that we've experienced first hand that maybe didn't work out so well with us. :)

^^ Totally agree.

Everyone has a learning curve, and learn over time. When I first started keeping betta's several years ago, I had no idea what I was doing. My first few betta's I got from the pet store, only lasted a couple months each time. Because I listened to the advice of the pet store, kept them in tiny little containers, and I rarely changed their water.

After I lost a few and went through the heartache of losing my pretty fishes and not knowing why, I joined a tropical fish forum and started posting there, only to be told by everyone that I was doing things very wrong and it needed to change fast before my newest fish Broccoli died too. I heeded their advice, upgraded to a 3 gallon enclosure, did water changes every other day, and began feeding a variety of different foods.

Instead of a couple months, my handsome boy Broccoli lived over 5 years, thanks to the insistance of others telling me that I was doing things wrong and it needed to change.

A lot of times, the advice of others comes from years of trial and error, and experience. I'm glad I listened when I kept getting hounded to do things differently with Broccoli, or he wouldn't have lasted long either.
