If my dogs had their way they'd stay outside 24/7 but as soon as it's 9pm inside they come, sulking. They'd love to bark all night at the racoons and possums but I'm all about keeping my neighbors happy and vice versa, not to mention that I must have my beauty rest, lol.

We did find the pit mix's owners. "Oh, she wanders off all the time" was the response, no thank you for returning her. She got along famously w/ my neighbor's dobie so he's thinking about keeping her the next time she wanders over. Can't say I fault him for possible "dog theft".

If you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything...

That's how we got my first dog. But she was being abused so it was definitely for the better.

Glad you found the owner, sucky that they didn't really care.

I have a friend who adopted a dog off the streets. The poor dog (it was a mix, but I'm not sure what) had been abused since childhood, had KNIFE SCARS over her body, and was starving. It took about 7 months for the her (the dog) to get used to my friend. Even now, she has trouble with strangers and can only deal with my friend's best friends. This includes me, and she's the sweetest girl ever - I don't understand why anyone would do such a thing! And to add to the mood - she was found in the rain in a sewage pipe, dying. And I am not exaggerating anything ...

I vote Animal Control. My neighborhood is FULL of dogs (I've counted 8), but all the neighbors are so kind. One time, one of our neighbor's dogs got out. Another neighbor, who also has dogs, was shocked and took her in until our neighbor's came back. It turns out they were out for vacation for an entire week, however the other neighbor (lol.) still kept their dog for that entire week. THey come back, and they were so sweet about it. The neighbors who lost the dog, paid her a nice amount for the trouble, and the other neighbor said "she'd gladly do it again if she had to." (The dog was slightly new, so the chances of it returning were slim). I'm glad I live here. Sorry you have to deal with such trouble.

"Hey. I have some bad news, and some good news."
"What's the bad news??"
"There's no good news."

One of my neighbors had a Corgi who was sooo nice and one time I had to keep him in the house for a couple hours because the owner left for work and forgot to put him back inside. *rolls eyes* She was a horrible owner and thankfully her x-husband has the dog now. If we didn't have 3 dogs already, we would've taken him when the owner offered to give him to us. There's the cutest basset hound that sometimes gets loose but he's so friendly and will come right up to me. The Akita is just so big and could easily hurt my small dogs by "playing" with them.
