Angry People annoy the heck out of me!!

My neighbors just moved into a very small house that's for lease only. They had a 100 pound Akita with them which was fine (I do love how they look even though they can be aggressive dogs). Then they decide to get a female Akita when they don't even have enough room for the male. These dogs are out ALL the time...during rain, wind, sleet, etc. The owners work all day long but at least they leasve water outside. Yes, they have really furry coats, but I can't stand to see them in that if they can be inside all nice and warm. Some people might think that there's nothing wrong with keeping their dogs outside all the time, but I would rather have mine inside.

So the problem is...the 100 pound male gets loose ALL the time. We know that he's nice, but no one else does. If you see a 100 pound Akita running towards you, you panic. My mom was taking Oscar outside (who's 5 pounds) a couple months ago and the Akita was loose and came running towards my mom when he saw Oscar and she jumped into her car really quick.lol Years ago (like 10) our neighbors Akita attacked and killed our first Yorkie so we're a little skeptical about those dogs.

I don't know if I should write a note saying that if he's loose again, I'm going to call the animal control. I would hate to do that, but maybe it'll get the point across to the dumb owners to secure his leash or keep him inside. Ok, sorry for ranting...it just makes me so mad when people don't take care of their pets properly and he could get hit by a car or get hurt.

This would make me mad too! While we don't keep our dogs inside, they are all in nice kennels outside on concrete and in above ground pens. They will NOT get out on there own. It really gets on my nerves too when people don't keep there dogs put up. Around here, if it happens to much I shoot them with some buckshot. Sounds terrible but it just stings the heck out of them and it only takes once or twice for it to happen and they don't come back.

Don't give them a note. Next time he's loose, call animal control and let them take care of the situation. You don't need a bad feelings relationship with the neighbors.

That's what I'd do anyway...

Good luck with that. And I don't understand why people get dogs and leave them out all the time. Why have one if you don't hang out with it and treat it like a member of the family? Grrrrr!!!

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Yeah, I'll just wait. My mom spoke with them when she had to run in her car and they told her it would never happen again. *rolls eyes* The thing is, he usually gets loose in the morning and the owners don't get home until 4 or 5 PM. So he's loose all that time. He always comes back though, but when my sister left for school this morning she saw him two streets down from us. I want to go over and hitch him back up, but I have no idea how he'll react when I'm on his territory and he doesn't really know me. So I think I'll let him be.lol

I agree w/ Romad. Let Animal Control handle the situation. The sooner you call Animal Control the sooner these idiot neighbors of yours will (hopefully) become responsible for their dogs.
I've got a pitmix that wandered onto my property last night, she's sweet as can be. She's too nice of a dog, playful, well fed and well behaved (wearing a collar and no tags) to not belong to someone. Once I finish my coffee, my neighbor and I are going to go around and start knocking on doors, in attempt to find her family. If it wasn't for that fact that I've already got three dogs I'd keep her.
If I ruled the world everyone who had a dog(s) would be responsible and caring.

If you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything...

Awww I hope you can find her owner. :( I just don't get why people would want to keep dogs and ignore them and stick them outside. My mom said that if they leave them outside when it gets really hot, she's going to call the Animal Control. But, if he still gets loose, I'll have to call them. Around here Animal Control doesn't do much unless it's something extreme. They usually take their sweet little time getting here.

Some animals love being outside. The husky/malamute that we rescued absolutely loved it. We tried to bring her inside when we first got her, would always run right back out the door. So we got her a nice large kennel with half concrete, half grass space and a very nice heated dog house for the winter. She loved it. But that's part of her breed. It would be -10 outside and she would be out playing in the snow. And when we were home, we would tie her on a large chain so she could go under her favorite tree and on the picnic table the we built for her. :)
But if the dogs don't have proper things to stay outside, it would be worse.

On the flipside, my little puppy that I have now loves being outside for like an hour or two, but he would never sleep out there. He likes it in my comfy bed with his pillow and blanket too much. Spoiled little thing. :D

Yeah I'd call animal control. That way they have to pay a fine to get their dog released, (in my area anyway).

Yep, call animal control. Sounds like a baaaad situation to get involved in.

I have a similar situation. My neighbors have quite a few dogs and they leave them outside for most of the day. The problem is one of them is a Chihuahua, and they scream at him when he yaps. (which is basically ALL day long) Then they had a husky last year, and I didn't see her for a while, then I saw they had a NEW dog. An Australian shepherd. GAH. Don't know what happened to their husky. Assuming they got rid of her. :(
