I don't think we have done this before. Some oldies I absolutely love are The Ladykillers with Alec Guinness as Professor Marcus (it's hilarious), and one that makes me cry every time I watch it is It's a Wonderful Life with James Stewart. I love the old Hitchcock films too

I was just about to chime in on the Hitchcock. I just watched Rear Window for my Philosophy of Film class.

Right now I'm actually writing a bit about Dr. Strangelove as the archetypal black comedy for a longer paper about the new Coen brothers film Burn After Reading and its status as an uber-black comedy (it contains elements of the personal gruesome death-related black comedy as seen in earlier Coen brothers movies like Fargo, along with portraying the absurdity of our society at large, with a sprinkling of end-of-the-world/apocalypse humor...definitely highly recommended to fans of the genre).

The original I assume? What an awesome film! Have you seen the remake with Christopher Reeve?

I sure haven't, but from what I've heard it didn't do the original justice.

Thought I'd bring this thread back to life, after a Bogart mini-marathon last night.

Started as a way to kill some time and wound up watching 3 of his films.

Just happened that they were 3 that he worked with Lauren Bacall.

Key Largo
The Big Sleep
To Have and Have Not

The chemistry between the two was electric.

I still want to be Bogie when I grow up...Got the hat, working on the sneer!

Always liked ..Where the Red fern Grows and all John wayne movies, Also love Humphrey Bogart especially, Treasure of the Sierra Madres. Or I think that's what the name was."Badges?what Badges? We don't need no stinking Badges!"

With the growth and speed of the internet, no excuse not to check out some great, old movies.

You can now watch classic movies on Hulu, youtube, to name a few, for free.

My local library also has classic movies on DVD for check out.

With the rise of 'remakes', nice to see what the originals were all about...
