D90 is pretty much the new/updated version of the D40.

They still sell D40 all over the place, especially at camera shops since its a good entry level Nikon, competes with the Rebel XT if Im not mistaken.

Anyway I had a chance to take a photo while cleaning my lenses tonight

See theres nothing wrong with Canon's... Ill let this thread get back to Nikkors now.

Uh Fujifilm anyone?!?
Aha, just kidding. Except my camera is a Fujifilm and it takes some nice pictures. :D

But as for Nikon/Canon...D90 all the way. I use one for the yearbook and it's great.

Thanks drama, she is rotten lol.

I checked with a Nikon guy:
D90 replaced the D80
D60 replaced the D40

Two completely different camera series.

I've been reading. The D90 is way expensive for all I need. I'm considering a D40 refurb.

Ummmm, if you say so. This is why I don't like the flash.

I've seen people with expensive pro Canons and Nikons and they take horrible photos.. Then a friend of mine with a point and shoot w/manual mode can take a photo that will blow both cameras away.

It proves time and time again that its the user, not the camera, that produces good images. The Nikon/Canon war is pointless, use what you feel comfortable with and enjoy.

Example 1 Panosonic G1.

Taken with a Sony HX1. Sony makes quality glass... hard to beat them.

Taken with a Sony HX1:

She normally shoots Nikon D80. But... in this case, Panasonic and Sony FTW!

Oh I definitely think it's the person and not the camera that has the eye, the camera just helps.lol I have a Kodak 'point and shoot' and I love that also. My Nikon was $400 and I used my summer job to pay it off. I would've never spent that much money on a camera unless I was really into photography. I love how you can buy extra flashes and lenses to go with it where as a 'point and shoot' you basically get what you have. Those are great pictures! I agree, it's stupid to start a war which one is better, like Mean Harrie said, it's like the Chevy and Ford war. Poor AngelicScars...she just wanted to know what extras would be good with her new camera! I hope you enjoy your Nikon and please share your pictures if you want to! :)

Haha, it's all good.

And yes, those are stunning pictures! I do agree most of it has to do with the user and not the camera. It helps though, when the camera can do more.

Right now I'm just waiting on Paypal to release the money so I can buy my lens and the things to go with it so I can actually start using my camera! I'll post pics when I feel I'm comfortable with the camera and the pictures.
