Unhappy Just wanted to let you know...

that I'll be taking a break for a little while. I've lost so many fish. Tristan passed away a couple days ago, I have no idea what happened, one day he stopped eating and I thought it was a fluke thing and I woke up and he was dead. Than Zeus was perfectly fine this morning and he was doing great in general and I came upstairs around noon time and he was on the floor, dead. There was a VERY small opening that I never thought he'd jump out of...guess I was wrong. Some of his scales on his sides were scratched really bad, I have no idea what happened. I just feel horrible and I'm wondering if I should even keep the fish that I have now. These things just keep happening. I guess I'm just so stressed out and aggravated.

Anyways, I won't be giving anymore advice (not that it was great anyways) but I'll be around occasionally to comment on pictures or if I need advice. You've all been so nice to me so thank you for that. This is by far the best betta forum out there! If anyone wants to PM me, feel free, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back to you.

Awww don't give up! I'm so sorry that things haven't been going well, but it's no reason to give up! About 3 years ago I was really into breeding, I had some fantastic thai fish, about 20 males and 10 females!

Well I was doing water changes, and had no idea that one of my bettas was sick with a particularly violent strain of colmunaris (he wasn't showing any symptoms yet) I cleaned his tank 3rd... then used the same net on the rest of the fish... They all got sick... They all died...

I lost 18 males in the time span of 48 hours! It was heart breaking, devastating, I wanted to give up fish forever... and I did... for about a month. I gave away my remaining bettas to good homes and stopped... Until I saw a poor betta in a filthy cup at walmart and brought him home and it started all over again.

Once you get bitten by the betta bug it never goes away... It might go into temporary hibernation when bad things happen, but its always there right below the surface just waiting for its chance to shine again!

*Big Hugs* Everything will be fine! Take a break, clear your head, then give back in to the bug!

i thin kwe all have had out doubts about continuing at one point or another and many have taken breaks from days to years long if that is what you need go for it.. but remember that when and if you chose to try again start totally fresh..
use your equipment you have now but just clean the daylights out of it and then start over...
when and if you chose to do it again let us know knowledge is for the world to share not keep hidden within ... share your experiance and learn from others....

Thanks guys. It's just so frustrating. I absolutely love bettas and I know I will always have at least a couple.

Zenandra that's horrible! I'm so sorry you went through that. :( One of my fish had parasites and I lost about 13 fish shortly afterwards.

Sorry for your losses. I can understand how a run of bad luck can lead you to question continuing. I hope you have some good luck instead and want to continue.

Bad things happen to good people (and bettas for that matter) and like Zenandra said, it's not a reason to give it up. It just takes time to feel better about the situations. You'll get back into it I'm sure.
