So I bought my horse, Amber, about a year and a half ago as an unbroke 4 year old. Not long after I got her (maybe 2 weeks) I had an accident involving being run down by a crazy 2 year old Warmblood cold, and I ended up really hurting my back and needing surgery. I was laid up for almost 5 months and had to hire a professional trainer to start Amber under saddle, even though I had wanted to do it myself.
Well about 7 months after getting Amber I finally got to ride her. She's great, but young and a little nutty, and has this killer huge bouncy stride. Everything was ok at first I rode her a couple times a week cause I was still healing and we were good. I started riding her more and more and everything went fine until about 2 months ago when my back really started bothering me again. It's always sore, but 2 months ago it started hurting again like it did when I first injured it.
Went to the Dr. he said its not good that it's always sore, that it shouldn't be. We figured that I must have jarred it bad one day when Amber went into a bucking fit and almost threw me. He said that her stride is probably what is causing me to be sore all the time, cause I dont feel that way when I ride my other horse, he has a much smoother stride then Amber.
Needless to say I have decided that it's best for both of us if I find a new home for Amber. I can't ride a horse that causes me to be in constant pain, and it's not fair to her because Im always in pain so I dont ride her as much as she needs to be ridden. It's a vicious cycle. And it's hearting breaking cause I love her so much...
