Before anyone tells me that children are still possible, it is but not likely, if things continue to progress we probably would not have kids with him being 48, at this time having additional children is not likely. For me with still trying to complete schooling I don't want to start a family while trying to go to school, which will take I am guessing around another 6 years at the rate I am going, and after I would want to get a few years in before thinking about kids. By then would put me near 40 which for me starts to get beyond when I would want to start a family. But then who knows things could always change. Okay I have rambled enough for now
At least I don't feel as bad about dating a 18 year old now. You guy's difference is bigger.

Definitly, and with the fact that where I work does tution reimbursement, with some conditions, I can basically get them to pay for me to get my degree. Not a bad deal, just need to work on getting everything together and get it done. Will definitly be worth it once it is all done.

LOL, 17 years is a bit, but at my age now it doesn't seem as big as it would when I was younger. Although everyone thinks that I am younger than I am by about 10 years. Comes from mom's side of the family, when in highschool had people that thought my mom and I were sisters It is nice to be carded still when I go out. I think I might cry when that starts to not happen any more, hopefully not for a long time still

Barb,

Be aware that at 48 guys can be still looking good and seem young/hip etc, but 17 years is too big of an age difference IMO. I married a guy 12 years older than me, and I look young for 50 (compared to many) and I often feel that our age difference does matter. At 31 you are still young and may feel special with an older guy at 48 showing interest, but think about how you'll feel when you are 48 (still "young") and he is 65. Something to think about when you think about getting "old" together. Unless you like pushing wheelchairs and caring for people. LOL!

Okay, this thread has gotten way off topic!

No offense to anyone but I kind of feel the same way. I've known women who married guys a lot older than them and they ended up being a caretaker. A man from my church lost his wife. He was probably in his early 70's and this woman was 10-12 years younger than him. She pursued him until she got him and on their honeymoon he got sick from some infection. He became very ill and ended up having a stroke. He's now in a wheelchair, he has to have help bathing and dressing. It was not the kind of life she was hoping for. she wanted to travel and do fun things but they can't because of his limitations. I'm not saying that anyone who marries someone a lot older will end up like this, though.

I understand where others are coming from, and yes as one gets older that does need to be taken into consideration. Although it does seem that with the average lifespan for those in my family and the health problems that seem to occur it is possible he could even out live me. But seriously it is something that I have thought about.

off topic?? what ever to you mean//hmmmmmm???

see when a person stats a thread that generally is intended (or not) to stir things up.. i think its important to realize that when all is said and done we must move on to bigger and better things.. for example how often do we as members really get the opportunity to talk about returning to school? or relationships?

or even from time to time talk about things like how many cartoons from our youth are still aired on television (now thats a good conversation right there) ... the point is the thread had no real point in the first place so why continue with it? i personally have greatly enjoyed learning about you folks and getting a glimpse of your life views.. thank you for sharing them with us...
