Lol i think hamsters were easier
Unfortantly 2 of the babies died but the dad was still trying to keep one of them warm, the other one ventured off under the bedding and i guess they just couldnt find him/her
but the other 3 are still alive, dad does most of the work, mom only sits on them to feed them, she leaves it all up to dad, he gets up once in a while to stretch and grab food then run back and tuck them back under him and eats

Aww that's too bad. 7 does sound like kind of a lot for a gerbil. The girl I work with used to keep hamsters for breeding and they are just terrible mothers, get wet tail, ugh. She had so many gerbils breeding that she had to stop, they were..prolific.

7? No she had only 5 lol, and i thought even 5 was a small number, I never had a problem with wet tail and my mamma hamsters never left their babys, Think it depends on the hamsters and the person breeding them

While i wa gone for the weekend they sure did get ore fur :) they are covered, as i suspected the 1 light colored one is gray just like her mamma, and the 2 darks are of coarse black lol


Also while i wasnt home this weekend, I picked up and orange male who has red eyes, so when the gray baby is old enough imma be breeding him and her together, i already know (she hasnt opened her eyes yet) that she too is going to have red eyes, just like her mamma :)
2 more weeks till i take out the dad and the 2 boys and leave the little girl in with mamma so that way a week later when mamma has babies again the little girl can help her raise them (I've read that instead of leaving dad in there to leave a female baby in with mom, because for mom to have 3 litters of babies in a row with no break can make her sick or kill her, and i dont want that lol, so i've came upp with a whole plan for all the breeding i'll be doing)

1st is him in his share tank with a black and white male, not the one thats the dad to the babies
2nd is him with the mamma of the babies, seeing if they will get along so after mamma has a break from babies, i can know if him and her get along well enough to breed (they passed the test, they get along :))

You should sell the pups to a local pet store. I bred them for quite a while. Darling little things they are, when they are just opening their eyes and standing up on wobbly little legs for the first time. :)

All the local stores that kept rodents shut down a few years ago, and petco you have to pay a fee and give them a cage in order to for them to adopt them out

My breeding is partly cause i like to, but also because i need food for my snake, and so does my local shelter, they have a bunch of snakes, and dont always have the money to get each and every snake some food each week, so im breeding, and their attempting to now that they gt more gerbils in
But their also adopting out the litter of gerbils they have in, i think they are just hoping one of the females will have babies because they cant adopt out the inbreds, so those are for the snakes, 1 of the males i got from them is inbred and i got him because of the fact that
1 im breeding them
and 2 because hes inbred lol

But my little ones are already running when i take them out, jut waiting for the eyes and ears to open lol
