I agree completely, and for the record, I thought fish monger was hilarious and not out of line. That was the SECOND thread that person started, and they both went the same way, and got locked.
I've started some bonehead threads but none that deteriorated enough to get locked. My Dream Aquarium thread is up to 1000 posts, and I have gotten countless pieces of advice, and it NEVER got adversarial. ~~edited~~
That person's first thread was what motivated me to post this thread:
Rant: Why ask for help if you're not looking for any?
Which is probably the closest I've come to a thread that deserved to get locked, but it actually garnered a lot more empathy than I anticipated. I actually felt half bad 20 minutes after I posted it, but we can't delete posts. BUT, when that person did the EXACT same thing again, I felt vindicated.
When I saw fish monger offered advice in the second thread, I PM'd him and said I was surprised he bothered after how it went the first time. He said we'll see how it goes. Haha. It went.
There are lots of people on here who ask for advice but aren't really looking for it, but that person was one of the ruder and more confrontational ones.

You just can't help some people. Common theme of both threads, person asks for help with a problem, people offer advice, person doesn't like the advice, person says it's not like there is a problem. Um... what?
