Well, you know, way back when when I was looking at every page of "Member's Photos" I see pages and pages of people chiding you for never posting a pic of yourself, and then all of a sudden you post one?? It's so nice to finally meet you and put a face to a name. I'm sorry I ever doubted you.
LMAO! You don't have to apologize, Kymmie dear. It's just I felt it's time I have to show my face.lol I was always very shy before. I'm always online on facebook and that kinda made me feel more confident.:P
I don't care much for my hair...normally I do pixie cuts because it seems to look good on me, and it's soooo easy to take care of.
Well, right now, my hair around shoulder length. I have a ton of hair, and it's thick. I use a toonie-sized gob of shampoo, and a quarter-sized gob of conditioner ('cause I don't apply it to my scalp).
My problem is that my hair dried out/gets damaged quite easily, even though I don't do anything to it. That, and it falls out A LOT.
@ Drama, you can totally use just conditioner. The thing is, that's best for naturally curly hair. That kind of hair is dryer to begin with so washing it pulls all the natural oils out and then your body spends days pumping out more, which is why it gets oily/dirty faster. It's a vicious cycle. I bet straight hair gets away with just hot water and rubbing your scalp. I could be wrong though. I'm still learning this 'No poo' method.
It took a month of no shampoo before my hair's natural oil regulated. For that month, it was an oily mess. But I stuck it out and then suddenly, it adjusted. Now I scrub my scalp with conditioner and my fingers, sometimes my nails. And I use Redken Curlwise cream. I haven't used shampoo in about 6 months. No one would know to look at me. My hair is shiny and curly!
Another trick is, don't dry your hair with a towel. They're abrasive and they make it frizzy. Dry your hair with an old t-shirt instead. And sleep on satin pillowcases for way less tangles overnight.
I got most of this info out of a book called Curly Girl.
Which shampoos do you use? Any organic ones you could give a shot? I hated Vaseline and Clear. They make me sick and my hair drier than usual so I prefer Sunsilk, Palmolive and/or Creamsilk. Kolour just for my dyed hair but I still lather conditioner to keep my hair from drying.
Normally I just grab whatever's in reach at Walmart or Shoppers, lol.
Head and Shoulders, Pantene, etc...right now I'm using TreSemmé and I like it. It doesn't make my hair as frizzy as some other shampoos/conditioners.
I also have black hair thats the same length as yours, which I have never permed/coloured. Most of the time I don't blow dry or straigten it. However, it is naturally straight and is a bit on the thin side. I use a "squirt" of shampoo and a dime sized amount of conditioner about twice a week. Works for me.
