Oh you know what (I mean you prop already knew this but)...I called around the normal human pharmacy's today (Maxx Humilin is $92 at Vet) and the places in town charge anywhere's from 40-55 bucks for it...Quite a difference - And I need no script ; needless to say in a few months when this bottle is used up I will go to town rather then the Vet for supply (which is closer drive anyway for me). Makes me wonder if I should check wherever to see about his DCO food as well.....

yes....it is always cheaper at th pharmacy. and no you dont need a script....things are always marked up at the vet as they need the profit....but why spend $100 if you can spend $50??

We all know what that extra money can go towards

Mollie, I am very impressed with your knowledge. It's nice to see a member be able to help another member with something other than what this forum was made for. Especially for such a fluffy cutie like Maxx

I excepted a lil mark up (thou even normal pharmacies have their mark up) but DOUBLE? Geez
Any idea of a online place by chance that I could check the DCO food at?

you mean my shopping addition?
It is REALLY nice indeed to have someone to talk to about Maxx that knows what they're talking about. And personally I find it VERY helpful to get more then just my Vet's opinion's on matters too.

you could check into petfooddirect.com. and....petsmart sells a lot of prescription diets, you just need a written script from your vet

@lisa, this is what i love doing. I wasnt really "into" diabetes untill my son was diagnosed last february, thats when i REALLY took an interest in it and i attend all sort of seminars, webinars, and anything really pertaning to diabetes whether it be human or animal. dont take it the wrong way, but i got SUPER excited when i saw this thread!!

HIs 18lbs bag there is actually $3 plus whatever shipping may be more; so getting it online would be pointless.

Thank God you said petsmart - I will check with Tractor supply in town too cause 1) They have a bunch meds obviously for the farmers 2) They're contracted with Purina so maybe they can order it for me too
At least worth while checking (any place in town is a far closer drive then the Vet for me!)
