Google Chrome

Has anyone tried Google Chrome yet, and if so what do you think of it? I use an eeePC 901 while travelling about and have found it's great on that. Chrome seems to be running better than Firefox which has been my preferred browser for a long time and I love the lack of clutter at the top of the page. The multiple tabs feature seems to run smoothly, which always seemed to cause problems when using IE7.

I also love the most visited sites page which is displayed when a new tab is opened.

What does everyone think?

I haven't messed with it yet because I figure I'll wait until it's officially released instead of just being in beta. I'm really excited about it, though. IE crashes on me all the time, and Firefox 3 has become a huge memory hog. I mean, I'm running a pretty powerful machine, but there's no reason my web browser running minimal plugins and not streaming any sort of media should be using more than a gigabyte of RAM. I'm hoping Chrome is more resource-friendly.

Well from my experience so far, it is a lot more resource friendly - if a little rough around the edges. I read somewhere that chrome is a big step towards what may evolve into an operating system from Google, and aimed at lower end machines. Now that would be interesting.

Don't like it, some of the navigation is very clunky. Right now there's no support for ad-ins like pop-up blockers. Also, some pages just straight up don't load.

Some of the things they're doing in terms of memory management is great, and I think it'll be very good eventually, but there's still some work to be done.

Well, it's still in beta, so hopefully all of those issues will be resolved by the time it actually launches.

I find it amusing that the built-in spell check feature in their own browser sees the word Google as a spelling mistake. Suggestions given are Goggle, Googly, Go ogle
