fish pedicures??

i saw an article in my local newspaper today about fish pedicures....i thought this was some sick joke (like the bonsai kitty scheme), but no- there really is such a thing. a salon in virgina (and several in japan) give pedicures where you soak your feet in a tank and some kind of small carp will suck the callous off your feet....... first of all, that just sounds gross! second- how would the fish survive?? water for pedicures is usually really warm- and US health codes don't let people share pedicure tubs....so they probably live in small tubs. also in the US, the tubs have to be sanitized completely in between use....wondering how the fish would not die immediately from waste build up.

anyways- if you want to see what it looks like put "dr fish" or fish pedicure into you tube and you'll see......so wrong

OH! I remember reading something like that. I can't for the life of me remember what the fish are called. But they have like pools full of them and you go in and the fish eat your dead skin cells Its so gross. People with skin conditions do it... and that makes it even more gross.

Contrary to reports, those fish reported are not Garra rufa but Oreochromis niloticus. Regardless, some people are narrow-minded using fish as pedicure instead of resorting to other means. Disgusting.

Are these people afraid of pumice sponges or something? Poor fish...I like pedicures but if I ever saw something like this I'd walk straight out.

That's..... interesting to say the least. Always finding a different use for something these people, lol. Gotta admit though, those fish do like quite content doing what they're doing. :P
