Earthquake!

This morning we had a magnitude 3.7 earthquake with an epicenter just a mile or two from my house. Nothing was damaged (that I know of) but the shelves did get a good rattling. It was pretty terrifying, to be honest, as this was the first earthquake I've ever really felt. Did anyone else feel this?

Wow, I've never been anywhere near where an earthquake occurred but I can imagine it must have been frightening! Aside from the fact that the earth is quaking, you don't know just how violently it's going to quake when it does. I'm glad it appears to have resulted in nothing more than the rattling of your shelves, Jim!

My girlfriend lives in Damascus (sp?). She felt it too but probably not as severly as you did. She's fine and happy to hear you are too.

I slept right through it. Only way I knew about it was a bunch of people on Facebook posted about it.

Damascus is about 15 minutes north of here. I still haven't found anything damaged so I don't think anything was, but I was sort of scared that the fish tanks might rattle apart. This kind of thing probably happens all the time in California, but over here it's a very rare event so I was pretty flustered. The news was absolutely crazy over the whole thing, though. I even heard that some local bar was having a sale on "aftershock" cocktails due to the quake, haha.

Jim- I understand "terrifying" completely. While I've felt more than my fair share it nevers fails to put my adrenaline into hyperdrive and just scares the you know what out of me! Just a few days I was at my Mom's house and the house started rolling (Epicenter was over in El Centro) and I'm embarrased to say I jumped right up and ran for the door. I know that's the last thing you should do but it was uncontrollable reactivety on my part. I simply can't help it. Earthquakes freak me out!

If you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything...

glad to hear you're ok.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

I've been in 2 earthquakes, one in California and one in Kentucky. The one in California was a 5.6 and it was pretty scary. The one here was a 5.3 but I wsn't really scared. It woke me up and I knew what it was right away. At first I thought I was dreaming. lol Then I thought, why is my bed moving?
