I understand that, I've been blessed to have never had the flue before, but I'm prone to Migraines that'll knock you out and I know many stout people that don't go to the doctor and have because of the flu... It sucks and try not to get it, but is this an epidemic? I don't think so personally.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea...

I do think the swine flu may very well become a Pandemic (SHould add I am an ER nurse with a Masters in Public Health). But I dont think its going to create mass death. SO far the infections in the US and Europe have been described as mild. (though I am sure the people feel horrid with it.). But with the way people are traveling these days, cases are going to spread and spread. the only confirmed death in the US though was a child visitng from Mexico who had several underlying health issues making her more susceptible to the disease.

Things like this do mutate in nature, the flu virus mutates so many times, which is why the flu vacciene sometimes doesnt get it right.

Common sense really needs to prevail. There is no point to seal a border to an infection that is already present in the US. People need to stay home when ill, wash hands and be alert to others who are trying to sneeze all over you.

As it is, we already give free health care in America, I treat a ton of people each and every day who have no intention whatsoever of paying a bill for medical services they recieve. And these are generally the people who arrive at the Emergency room for a cough for one day, dental pain, or a variety of other really non emergent/urgent problems. Becuase of the laws we have from the 80's we have to evaluate and treat every person who walks in the door thinking they have an emergency regardless of their ability to pay. So as far as socialized medicine, its been here for years, just under a different guise...

coughs and sneezes carry diseases.
it will probably spread like butter on hot toast. !
the thing is that people are coughing, sneezing, spitting, clearing thier noses in the streets
(well they do over here !! ) it's disgusting.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

As you should anyways regardless of what you have.

There have been two suspected cases near my area and they even closed down one of our schools to disinfect it but I am not worried. From what I have heard of the virus it does not sound that bad compared to some of the other flu panics that have gone on and not nearly as bad as some of the disease in the areas I have traveled to. I have spent a lot of time in Africa so comparatively this doesn’t sound that bad; also I agree that the media tends to blow these things way out of proportion.

A while ago, in the news they were actually already calling it a pandemic. So I guess we all know the answer to that one lol. However, I agree with what someone said about it not getting to the point of mass death. Although that flu is already pretty much dying and hardly word of mouth sort of thing.
