i have never smoked in my life and never intend to. i do find myself picking up the little brown buts my brother drops in the backyard every morning, though(for the sake of our dog) very nasty habit. i saw one of those TRUTH commercials where the cigaret companies advertised cigarets with cartoon characters, but instead of getting adults on the habit, it targeted children, it went something like that.

As both a smoker and a veggie (yes, one can be both) I would like to say that I agree with the smoking ban. I don't think a ban will ever come to meat or to alcohol because neither of these affect the health or anyone bar the user, or the non-user as the case may be. A read about a barman who did not smoke and he had tests done and enough tar was found in his lungs equivalent to smoking something like 20 a day. I don't think it's fair that people who work in places where smoke is unavoidable should be made to suffer the consequences. I also think that if you prefer, you should be able to go into a bar and not be surrounded in smoke.

All in all, being a smoker, a drinker or a veggie is a choice and as long as smokers are not causing others to breathe their smoke, and veggies are not ramming their opinions down anyone elses throat then we should all be allowed to do as we please but when what we choose to do starts negatively affecting others then something has to be done - hence the smoking ban which I support.

Personally I have never learned to smoke. It seemed too tough for me when I tried years ago and I never retried and I am quite happy about it - I have other things to do.

However, I am not sure about those bans. If tobacco is so bad, the sale of it should be banned by governments, if it isn't being done, people should enjoy some freedom to smoke where they like unless it comes into a conflict with non-smokers badly.

the only reason that the government will not ban cigarettes altogether, is simply because they make too much tax ont hem

The tax on cigarettes in the UK alone would pay for the building of 19 NEW hospitals a year, and to have the fully staffed for the same period.

Were does all this money go ?? Do you know ?
