Developmental Fluoride Neurotoxicity: Lowers IQ and Causes Tumors

So I found this scary article released by Harvard and published in October to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences

Developmental Fluoride Neurotoxicity: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

There was also an article written about this Journal:

Major Harvard Study Confirms Fluoride Lowers IQ

To sum it up, the Fluoride enriched areas were reporting kids with lower IQ on average in comparison to the areas with lower fluoride levels.

I've been drinking bottled water and using Fluoride free tooth paste for over a year now due to me finding out some other things about the water, now it just kind of reinforced the safety measures. How does the government INSERT fluoride into the water when they KNOW that it's harmful...Seriously..

Thanks for posting this, Term. In the parenting world, flouride is one of those never-ending debates. My kids have never used toothpaste with flouride, and we also try to keep flouride-free/filtered water in the house, but of course if you buy the stuff that comes in a plastic bottle, well. . . the toxins leached through plastics, plus the packaging issues are another never-ending debate! Can't win, it seems. . . :) I've been wondering for years why the government insists that flouride is good for us, despite all of the evidence to the contrary. It seems as though they're finally coming around and have decided that it actually IS bad for us. I wonder how long it'll take them to remove it from our water supply - if ever. Also have to wonder what it does to our fishies. . .I somehow doubt Prime removes flouride!

No problem, thought I would share :D

The water bottles aren't as much of a problem unless you store the water in there for an extended period of time OR heat and other variables. But like you said you can't stop everything ...:( there is no winning!

Yeah I don't think prime removes flouride either.

I've been drinking tap water since I was a kid. Came to the USA when I was 7. We put our water through a Brita filter, but its not that much filtration.

I have also used flouride toothpaste since I was a kid. I only stopped using that kind of toothpaste about 2 years ago...about...

My family has been drinking bottled water for about that same time. I was the only one using Flouride free toothpaste though. We started getting water bottles because it was easier hahaha not even because of that.

Not all water has the same concentrations of Fluoride, different parts of the country have different levels of it.

I mean what do you all think about it?

This is what I didn't like

Fluoride readily crosses the placenta. Fluoride exposure to the developing brain, which is much more susceptible to injury caused by toxicants than is the mature brain, may possibly lead to permanent damage

I just think it's. . . foolish. I don't understand why, now that they KNOW how bad it is for us - with the scientific evidence to back it up - our government continues to insist on putting into the tap water. . .A lot of effort goes into purifying the water before it gets to our homes to make it as safe for human consumption as possible. The system isn't perfect, granted, but dumping fluoride in it, which is not necessary and arguably harmful, doesn't make sense to me. There are arguments for and against, this has been a debate for years - but I feel like it really should be a choice. I am perfectly capable of finding other ways to get my daily fluoride if I feel it's necessary. What really gets me is going into the store and seeing gallon jugs of 'nursery water,' which does have fluoride in it, and is marketed to parents to use for mixing baby formula and such so that baby can be safer than if tap water were used. Ummm? Maybe that's just it. . . we've ALL had too much fluoride over the years - the numbers do show that our country is getting dumber at an alarming rate. O.o Fluoride is a good thing in very small doses, but of you drink the recommended amount of water that we all should be drinking daily, and it comes from the tap, it's too much - at least in most areas of the country. *shrugs* I have a lot of questions, though - and many of them are food/water/nutrition related. Our country. . . in many ways is wonderful, but in many ways needs to take a step back and make some serious changes on how we view eating/drinking/heath.

'nuff said.

Esoteric Agenda? Ulterior Motives?

I'd think so.

That's what that made me think of.
