So, it's looking like my next vacation is either Thailand and India OR Peru (including the Amazon). My boyfriend wants to go somewhere tropical and I want to go somewhere I can collect fish, so it works out pretty well for both of us. He certainly doesn't mind lying on the deck of a boat sunbathing surrounded my monkeys and stuff :P
I was wondering if anyone has done any collecting trips before? Can anyone recommend any tour companies?
I found a place in Peru that will take you to all the best places, provide supplies for catching/holding and even hold them/QT them while you finish your vacation and then ship them back when you get home. They've got all the proper export licenses so I wouldn't have to deal with the legalities and stuff.
However, I'm having trouble finding some in Asia. I know that I can get the proper licenses myself, and probably wouldn't have trouble finding a local collector to show me around, but I'd really rather not. Firstly, because the licenses are complicated and expensive. Secondly, because if we go to Asia we'll be meeting up with some Aussie friends of my man and the entire trip will not be fish related. I don't really relish lugging fish life support systems to each hotel, and we'll probably be staying in hostels anyway, which brings up even more issues.
So! Everything is still very flexible and I would love your input. Cheers :D
