our real one is up, if i can grab a picture when theres some presents under it i will. i have heard using a small amount of sprite or 7 up in the trees water right after the trunk gets a fresh cut is good for it. i dont know how true this is, but a splash of sprite doesnt cost much. my father also takes a slice of every years tree trunk and will carve the year into it, or something along those lines and then we sign it. then the wood gets sealed and it becomes an ornament. something i remember doing since i remember christmas. | Before I had my cats I'd put some seven up and some asprin in the tree water. It was something my fourth grade teacher did. I figured it truly worked since that fourth grade tree went up before well before Christmas break and was still green and healthy when we came back to class in the new year.
What a great idea by your family as far as making ornaments from the tree's trunk. Clever. I bet Martha Stewart wishes she had thought of it. |
