Botanic Gardens - Abandoned Underground

I like exploring derelict/abandoned hospitals, underground stations etc and thought I'd post up details of my most recent trip.

Glasgow Botanics Station

The Botanics station was opened on 10th August 1896 and closed on 6th February 1939. Access to the tunnel is now buried in woods to the rear of the botanic gardens. On entering the site, there is an initial tunnel leading to the underground botanics station, followed by a much longer tunnel leading onto the next station. Some pictures:

Entrance

Stairs leading to nowhere

What? This was abandoned in the middle of one of the tunnels

Some sort of weird deposit on the walls. Lime or calcium perhaps?

The actual station

You'll have a long wait for a train, mate

And a video taken on the day:

Thanks for looking

Thanks Lainey. It was closed due to wartime economy. Although the station was underground, the station building was at ground level. Here's a picture of the original building

The old steps that can been seen in the video led up into this building.

This is the only one I could find, taken in 1906. I had another one, I'm sure of it. If I find it I'll post it up.

To me it is very creepy...in addition to being very cool. Had your video had been set to different music I would have been on the edge of my seat wating for something dark & scary to jump out of the shadows. It looks like nowhere I'd want to be walking alone. Has this location ever been used on a movie set? I can think of a many scary movies that I have seen where this location would have been a perfect setting
Thanks for sharing!

It was pretty creepy down there I must admit, especially when we got deep into the tunnel with absolutely no light except that from our torches. A couple of times we switched them off and it was total darkness. The only sound was that of water dripping from the walls and ceiling and our own footsteps.

All in all, it took over three hours to walk the tunnels. It's not been used in any movies as far as I'm aware, but you're right - it would be an excellent setting.
