Restarting my 14G Nano (BUILD THREAD)

Hey all!

So been a while since I have been on the forums, got busy with work and school and moving around so here I'm back.

I had a 14 gallon nano I had bought a while back for 300 fully stocked and everything. But sadly while I was outta town a few weeks ago, my roommates didn't listen to me and left my door open, and their cat decided to wreak havoc on my tank, killed my True Percula and half my coral by knocking the light fixture in. So I took what coral was left and put it in my parents tank at their house.

My GF loved the tank, so after some coaxing form her, I decided to start it back up before me and her move in together.

So it is currently cycling again. Has a 3" sand bed, bout 12 pounds of LR in it, leaving some room for when I buy coral.

Nitrates are at 5 ppm as of 5PM West Coast, SG is at 1.023, temp is set at79 degrees. Whats your opinions on that BTW?? Do you guys suggest a higher or lower temp than that??

Stock list at the moment... well, I'm thinking about a Royal Gramma Basslet, pretty fish, plus I love their personalities. Coral, I am thinking some type of mushrooms, some kinda of zoa, candy cane perhaps, and possible frogspawn or hammer coral. As for CUC, probably 4 red leg hermits.

Opinions/Suggestions for stock??

Anyways, here's some pics to start this off right, pretty plain at the moment, but half the fun of following one of these threads is seeing it from scratch!

Cycling finally finished. Tank was set back up about a week and a half before my initial post and all the tests came back as they should.

Another factor that helped me decide to hit the LFS again was there was one piece of LR in the tank from before that evidently had a few baby mushrooms on it, by baby I mean maybe 8mm across, and they were fully extended for once so I could notice them!

Was excited to go to the LFS again! Been a while for me since I had been in there.

Sadly, their stock was a little low as they are waiting a new shipment, but they had what I wanted. Ended up getting a Hammer Coral (
Euphylla Ancora) about 2.5" tall and 5 Blue Leg Hermits.

Left the Hammer in the sand bed for the time being to see if it reacted well to the acclimation process and it did, fully opened by this morning. Hermits were wandering around and eating at the few pellets I threw in for them.

Glad to see life in the tank again. Will post pictures tonight when I get home!
