Heater in Refugium

Can I run a heater in the 2nd chamber in the BioCube 29? I am not worried about it fitting. I want to know if that would negatively effect the Chaeto and it's inhabitants.

Not so much as bothering anyone, but whats the flow rate in there? If its going to fast it won't give the heater time to heat up the water.

Dunno, don't have it running yet. Actually.....I see there is a "False floor" to keep the Chaeto centered in the back window. Unless they make an 8" 100W heater it woildnt work anyways.

does it fit in the return section?
i would think even with water going fast as long as the heater is submerged it will still heat your water. i dont know if it is less effective then having a slower rate but i would think as long as your not removing water it will all pass the heater at some point. wheter it passes the heater at 200gph or 50gph its all the same system so if your water is 74F the heater should be on regardless until its steady at 77-78F ( unless you run a cooler tank )

I will most likely run the heater in the 3rd chamber. I was going to put the oceanic uv sterilizer, but I hear they are garbage (just like there protein skimmer).

Is a uv sterilizer recommend for a reef system?

I'm gonna try the hydor slim skim nano. I Beleive it will fit in the first chamber with some trimming. The second chamber will be my Refugium lit by the jbj led Refugium light. The third chamber will have my heater (for now).

What do you think, should I do a build thread here?

Research is exhausting....
