? about water flow in a 14g biocube

just got my tank set up last week, cycling with lr/ls. stopped at the local pet store where they are having a going out of business sale (waaa!). they had pumps on sale and far be it from me to turn down a bargain. picked up an Aqueon circulation pump 700, $80/regular, marked down to $50 and marked down again to $20. yay me!

not sure i can even use it in this tank, it's rated 30-55g, 2.8 wattage. is this too much for a 14g and if not, where would be the best place in the tank to place it?

Thats a huge amount of water movement for a 14g tank. I wouldn't use it unless I wasn't going with a substrate. That thing is liable to blow it all over the place. Considering that you'd only need about 300gph for a Reef set up. If you want to try it, place it in one of the back corners, middle ish pointing slightly up, this will keep the flow from blowing directly at the substrate in order to keep it in place.

thank you muchly, sir. i kinda figured it would be a lot for such a small tank. if i get a wild hair this weekend, i'll try putting it in the tank where you suggest and see what happens. :)
