That doesnt make the LFS special, that's actually quite common. That, my friend, is the difference between a Local Fish Store, and a Local Pet Store. Generally, Pet stores are not the place to look for quality equipment and livestock, they sell inexpensive products and livestock that will sell quickly to people looking to dive into the hobby uninformed. The average LFS looks to do the same, only with expensive equipment and livestock.

This is why forum and internet research is so crucial to one's success in the hobby. Stores are in business to make money. Thats the bottom line.

Take pride in what you do, for it is a reflection of who you are.

Having 2 maroon clowns in a 10g is not a good idea at all. That shows poor judgment on the part of your retailer and sends people home thinking they can/should do this. Then those same people log on to internet forums and argue everything to the death because "their LFS does it". Just because their LFS does it, does not make it right. I had 2 maroon clowns in my 75g tank, each of them was large enough to eat. Both were about 7" from head to tail. Yeah let's put 2 full grown maroon clowns in a 10g tank. I'm sorry but maroon clowns (and all the other "cute widdle baby clowns) are not meant to be placed in a 10g tank, really 20g is pushing it but I've given up all hope of telling folks not to place clowns in tanks under 40g, as everyone must have them since THAT MOVIE came out.

Nemo was an entertaining film, and it has had good and bad effects on the industry imo. On one hand, you have a ton of people's interest initially sparked by the prospect of keeping such a fish, which then evolves into a deeper interest in the hobby. On the other hand, you have an equal amount of people purchasing them without being committed to taking care of them. A difficult paradigm indeed, but one that's been around in freshwater for years, I suppose.

Just my two cents.

Tanks: 40 gal FW setup, 10 gal Reef tank.

That is totally true Mattd. And the movie has bunches of lies but it's supposed to be entertaining not about the true ocean and what happens in it.
