Hey, I know that on the thread I started the other day that everyone decided my betta severus didn't have fin rot, but I think something is happening to his fins, I just don't know what it is. He doesn't bite, and I'm mostly noticing it on the dorsal fin. It's like the webbing between the fins is deteriorating, but his ray things (? not sure what to call them...) are sticking out further. I'll try to post some pictures on my profile so that you can see the difference if you don't mind checking them out for me please :)

Hey Viv. I don't know what this means, but I thought I'd ask you here instead of the thread.
(if you add the bacteria in right away the conditioner will kill it)

Cosmo actually passed away. I had him for 2 years and he had fin rot when I bought him. I tried daily water changes for 10 days but no improvement. So I tried salt and daily water changes and that worked wonders. He never had fin rot after that. But I will take your advice and not use salt on my other 2 bettas. (A female and a male :) ).

Wow I actually did not know that. Some of the other websites I've read articles on said salt was good. I used it to treat Cosmo when he had fin rot and I put salt in every time I changed water.

Dumb question regarding cycling. Do you still use aquarium salt in the water during this process?

You give excellent advice in a clear understandable manner. Glad you're on the forum.

Great pictures. Are you in the photo contest?

Awwww... Wow sounds like ronnie has a lovely home now, I'm sure he's very happy that you decided to take him home and give him the proper care he deserves. It does make me sad when people don't look after their pets or don't do the research they need to do! I've had issues with finrot when I got my boy from the petshop where he was kept in appalling conditions, fin rot is annoying when it starts to shred your bettas fins! Glad to hear Ronnie and the others are doing great

Wow! I try to take photos with my I-pad but it just ends up being blurry! My little fishy is in no way photogenic, lol. Your bettas are so pretty! Where did you get them?
