Thank you for the advice, I took them out and did a full water change and got it all out hopefully...I used scalding water on the tank, plants and rocks. What store has those good medications? I bought that one at Petco. I really wouldn't think that they would sell something that would actually hurt the fish, I'm really suprised.

Ok, how long were you using it before your fish started getting lethargic?

I bought Melafix for the fin rot. Is that a good brand?

:( thanks. I was so sad when they all died! And to know that I probably killed them.... Makes it even worse... :(

But, I'm thinking of getting a small 1-2 gallon glass cube, and planting it, adding a mini filter and I will have a mini planted tank!

Well we were. The past couple of days it's been raining like crazy. Like really bad. Couldn't even leave the house for a while. It's cleared up though, sun is shining today. Thanks for being concerned!!

so IS 86 too warm? He sure is more active. Does your Visitherm have allowance to temp setting or it just is what it is? If it has a setting what do you keep the males at?

Saw your bettas are in 1 or 2.5 gallon tanks. I thought you might be the best one to ask.
Does a male need more than one gallon.... I notice you have yours in 2.5.
I'm having trouble keeping the water temp regulated in this little tank. I'd like to keep it constant, but it gets either to hot or too cold. If I let it set with the heater on, it goes to about 86... that's too high isn't it? But, without it and with just a 7 watt bulb, the water only stays about 76 and he doesn't swim around much at all. When he does and it's cold like that.,.. he swims kinda spastic like. He just darts. Like electric shocks. That is.. when he's not just sitting at the top of the plant closest to the light. He's also hard to rouse for breakfast. I usually keep him moving frequently during the day. That's what made me think it was the temp and not some illness. I'm sure there are heaters with regulators, but they are for 15 gallon and above... Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help.
