Excessive slime coat is usually a sign of an irritant of some type-when it is in one area-usually that can mean a parasite or injury. Can you see anything on that area in question. I would QT in a small container and premixed the treatment water-easier to observe and treat this way. You can float the QT in the heated tank if needed.
