Hey Perry sorry I got back to kinda late. I found this heater for $10. The reviews are pretty good. It's Amazon and the heater is called the Elite Submersible Preset Heater Mini by Hagen. I'm might buy one for me soon. I have a 1 gal that needs a heater. Check it out. ;)

I am not sure....but...I guess would have to in order to make sure everything is going okay.

Your best bet would be a "mini" heater, but a half gallon of water can't really be heated stably...

A tank that small is hard to heat properly. Can you get a bigger tank? 1/2 gallon is too small.
