The Armstrong garden has topsoil but will that have enough nutrients and minerals for the plants? Also on the second page of the thread are three alternative soils would any of those work? Some of them have mushroom compost would that harm my fish?

My only concern with the first one is the "wetting agent" the second one "the added ferts" Instead of potting soil...look for Top want one with as little pine needles compost. Sift it and use....
FYI-I have used several different types of potting soil and top soil-with some that had the added ferts and the only problem it caused in the beginning was excessive algae.

Hi OFL sorry to bother but I'm in trouble. I am trying to set up a 5 gal. npt, long story short I have looked everywhere I can to get some organic soil. I currently have 2 different bags of soil and I am possibly going to make a trip down to Armstrong gardens today, I was wondering if you could confirm which of the soils I could use for this, I have pictures of the soils I have and links to the soils Armstrong sells. If you could even just take a look and tell me it would mean the world to me, Thanks you.

The Thread title is: Can I use this dirt in my soon to be 5.5 gallon NPT
*sorry it won't let me post direct link to the thread *
