- It sounds like he is adjusting to the new space and its not uncommon for them to kinda freak out for a few days. You might want to turn the light off for a day or so and if you have a filter-sometimes that needs to be turned off as well-especially if he didn't have one in the other tank. Turning the filter off will effect the nitrogen cycle if that has already been established-but you could place the filter media in another tank if you have one or the filter itself if needed to keep the BB alive. You could also place the filter media in the 1gal and add an airstone to supply the oxygen for the BB.
If he doesn't calm down or his behavior get worse-you may have to keep him in the 1gal long term. Some males can have problems tolerating too much space-other don't have any problems. Keep me posted...
- Hi! You were recommended to me if I had questions, and I would like to ask one if that's okay. Recently around two days ago, I just moved my betta fish from a half gallon to a give gallon tank. He freaked out the first day and everyone told me he was just adjusting. The second day, he seemed to have calmed down, and now today he's just swimming back and forth by the glass in front of the tank. At random points during his swimming, he suddenly dashes and gets really fast. When I held up a mirror, the way he flared I found was strange. It seemed urgent and not like usual. Normally he flares just keeping his gills out and staring, but today his gills went in and out rapidly in flare, and then no flare. I got nervous after seeing that, so I came to ask you. Do you think he's ok?
