As for the other diseases, I take it you have checked with the farms that they are free of the koi herpesvirus? If you're still unsure of whether or not they are clean of KHV, keep the water temp at 75F for 30 days; if they show no signs, they are most likely clean. As for the total period of quarantine, there is no set length. A general rule I use for all quarantine is 2 weeks after the last symptom of disease.
Wow! Those are some really nice fish! Congrats! You must put some pictures in your album when they get to you! But you are very right quarantine is essential. What kind of QT tank do you have? With two different suppliers I would do two separate tanks. Are you having these fish shipped directly (like through AquaBid)? Or are you getting through a 3rd party (local store, ect)? If they're coming from a local pond store they will have probably gone through a QT period already, but I would check with the supplier. If you're getting them directly from Japan, a quarantine is mandatory. You should go ahead and put them through a Praziquantel treatment. This will eliminate flukes. You can buy it powdered, and it will be much less expensive. (split into 2 messages due to word length)
Kitchener isn't too far at all!!!! I'm not really into blue fish however, haha, as I already have one. But can I add you as a friend so I can keep in touch and let you know when I am ready for a new fishy? :)
