- I discovered I have four babies instead of three and one of them is completely orange. I dubbed him/her Tang. One of the other ones looks blue. Babies are fun to watch! They were eating the flakes off of the gravel and they like to hang out among the lace ferns' roots. Regarding the mysterious white stuff, its white hair algae brought on by lighting issues.
- I'm not sure about the white algae, if you can post a pic I'm sure someone will know what it is. I have been seeing in my tank what looks like a clear piece of thin film with little dots or eggs on it. I assume it's snail eggs since it started after I got snails. Also, another advantage of snails is that they are sensitive to water conditions. When your water needs to be changed they will all go to the top of the tank to get either oxygen or to get out of the water, and they do this before the water starts to affect your fish. This morning I had about 75-100 snails at the top( I had no idea there were this many). I tested and nitrates had gotten high. I did a water change and within 15 mins they were back to the bottom.
- They arent showing any clear color yet, but if you look really close they have a faint yellowish hue. They are totally cute though and blend in with the gravel and have plenty of hiding spots. Im getting some more plants soon, anubias and ancharis maybe and a moss ball to compete with algae. I was gonna ask, have you ever heard or had a white algae that looks kind of like a cross between an inverted jellyfish and a flower? Its very tiny, sticks to everything and sways in the current.
