it didnt all fit, so here's the rest if it. read the post below this one first....

you should look at some of msjinkzd's stuff (google msjinkzd). I know I'm not supposed to post other forums,(well technically its a plants forum not a fish one) but has a wealth of resources as to where you can buy really good stuff in the WTB/RAOK, For Sale and Sponsors sub forums.

Tropicalfishkeeping (mother site of also has a classified section, that is slow but usually have a lot of great stuff.

best way is to locate hobbyists and aquarium clubs in your area (you will probably need your parents to go aling with you) check out their auctions for reallycheap, healthy stuff (friend got a large bag of java fern for $5 and 10 catfish for $10)

    hope this helps.

Hi! technically everything needs qt, I've had velvet travelling on some moss i bought once and it wasn't nice at all.
I now dip plant in potassium permanganate to get rid of parasites. just Qting something for a week or two can really help sometimes. Qting plants means planting them nicely in a bright place with fertilisation away from temperature extremes... not in a random bucket with tap water lol. however tap water can help you kill off some of the nasty stuff, so a day in tal water wouldn't be a bad idea.

It's always good practice to source things from trustworthy sellers. and I can tell you petco and petsmart are not all that trustworthy in terms of disease freeness>.>

getting stuff from a fellow hobbyist with nice tanks can almost give you a guarantee that your new livestock will be healthy and disease free :)
