Oh, and don't forget a good heater. :D For a 5g hex, you can use any of the shorter adjustable 50w on the market, or you can try to find a 25w. Either will work.
And since your tank is a little taller, you might want to try to get a betta hammock or a betta log so your fellow can sleep near the top. :)
If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. :)

Hi fishergirl and welcome to the forum. :)
The Eclipse tanks are good tanks because the filters are very good. The flow might be a little strong but I think you should be able to baffle it, either using a sponge in front or by using a soda bottle. There's a sticky about baffling in the Habitats section. In a 5g with a good filter like that and only one betta, you can change the water maybe 50% a week. But for the first month that you have the tank, you'll want to change the water twice a week, 2 50% a week. This is because it will take a month for the filter to cycle or gather up all the good bacteria.
I really recommend you get a gravel vacuum for your water changes. They make changing the water so easy and it's always very good if you can vacuum the gravel once a week to get the poo and other nasty stuff out.
Usually, you don't need to clean the decorations unless a fish gets sick. Sometimes you have to wipe some algae off but that's about it.

Hi, I was recommended to talk to you by Shirleythebetta. I don't know really anything about keeping a betta and I have learned some by researching. I'm planning to get the 5 hex eclipse system tank, and I was wondering if you could tell me whether this would be a good tank and if the filter system was too strong. Also, for water changes, I wanted to know whether you do them once a week in a 5 gallon tank, and how much water is replaced, and decoration cleaning, gravel, etc. I just need to know the basics about that.
Thanks a lot :D
