Well, Stability is way better than Nutrafin Cycle. It's the one professional aquarist Carl Strhmeyer recommends. But his article was written before BioSpira morphed into Safestart and Dr Tim's O&O, and all the rest came onto the market.
Not for cycling. It disolves gunk and promotes a biofilm for the real bacteria to latch onto. You still have to wait for the real nitrifying bacteria to fall out of the sky. As far as I can tell, it does not contain nitrosomonsas or nitrospia (or nitrobacter), which are autotorophic bacteria. It has heterotrophic bacteria.
Alright, so my water params as of today before my water change were: 1ppm or .5ppm ammonia (that stupid test is so hard to read accurately), 0 nitrite, 2-3ppm nitrate. I ahven't been able to change the water before today because I have been sick. Looks like I will be picking up a bottle of safestart after school tomorrow...This has got me really frustrated.
