That's so cool! I wanted to work with racehorses for as long as I can remember. I used to ride (English & wanted to learn more with jumping) but it got to be too expensive. Now I dance and figure skate. But I'm taking this competition season off of skating to focus on school & dance.

Yeah, we do follow horse racing. We have friends who own racehorses. One of their better known horses is Tapits Fly, a filly who won a big race last year in California, I think. She also raced on Derby day last year but not in the Derby. lol

Do you follow it too? I love horses & would have one too except for lack of place to keep one, lack of time & of course the money aspect ;)

You're so lucky! I've only gotten to visit Kentucky once for a conference in Lexington. I've followed horse racing since I was 12. My grandfather taught me how to handicap & I got to be much better at it than him. It was fun for me to see the horses and then I would get ice cream if we won. I try & watch as many races as I can on TV. Special horses they were! Unfortunate about what happened to them in the end. I'm hoping to start volunteering with a retired/rescue racehorse program not too far from my house. The track closest isn't the best & a lot end up there from less than ideal situations.

I know who Ruffian and Barbaro were. I live in Kentucky. lol We're probably about 20-30 minutes from Churchill Downs and I've been there several times.
