I've posted the Betta pics. The babies have their own album & I'll update it as they grow and include dates. Would appreciate some feedback on Em as to the sex. I had to use my older digital camera, so the clarity isn't great. My BB takes better pics-kinda sad. Gotta run to go get one more heater! Be back later!
I hear ya on that one! It's after 2 a.m. my time, I should do another feeding and then bed. I'll try and get the pictures tonight before I feed them & post tomorrow. Have a good night & I'll talk to you tomorrow :)
:D I stopped following ice skating for a while but I can honestly say that Meryl Davis and Charlie White are two skaters who got me genuinely re-interested in skating again. I really love their programs.
Girl, you're amazing. Your energy and your stamina alone continue to wow me. :D I wish I lived closer, it would be so cool to see you skate. I'll check out your pics soon but for now I think I'd better eat before I pass out. You'd think 3 hot dogs would be enough but nooo, stomach wants more. Greedy stomach, I think it used to belong to a betta. XD
Yes, you're right! That's them! I loved that program and got to see it live at Stars On Ice when it still came to STL. I've started putting up skating pictures and they're in them. You don't even want to know all the injuries that come from skating and dance. I've been training and dancing for 4 months with stress fractures in both legs.
The names sound familiar. Did they compete in the Vancouver Olympics? Place 2nd? My memory is pretty fuzzy right now but I'm trying to remember who it was who skated the awesome Indian-style program. I loved that one so much! I'm thinking they were the ones who skated that? I love the spirit they have when they skate.
Ouch for your partner! My ankles are hurting just thinking about his fractures.
I totally love ice dancing too! It's beaten out freestyle for me. It's technically harder because of all the footwork. And I'm too tall and heavy to do any lifts. I've skated with an ice dance partner for NOI, but have yet to compete with one. Mark (my usual partner) has stress fractures so bad in both feet that he's been off the ice for 6 months. I can solo it though. Thanks! I have LOTS of pictures of skating stuff. I'll try and post those since they are on my PC. My betta pics are all on the BB. I'll try and grab the digital to snap some photos of the babies. So tiny!
It really makes watching the teams compete more fun. Have you heard of Meryl Davis and Charlie White? They are my favs and probably some of the nicest people I've met. Very down to earth. Super friendly. Nice to know people in a completely new city. I was so proud of them for winning Worlds! It was a program I got to see performed live for the first time at a dress rehearsal.
It was a boring weekend. Stopped by all the pet stores but surprisingly, I didn't see any bettas that cried out "I need a home!" to me. Spent the rest of the weekend battling algae, changing tanks, and taking care of a sick kitty. As for the holidays, I think it's going to be pretty quiet. Usually my brother comes home from NYC but he's too busy this year and flying at the holidays equals stress for him. And we actually took a short trip to NYC in November so it's not like we didn't see him. In fact, that short trip was enough to last me for the rest of next year, hahaha. So we'll visit a cousin on Christmas and otherwise just spend a quiet day at home. Most of my relatives live in other states and we really aren't all that close to many of them anyway.
Okay, I've babbled enough. I'd better let you get some rest, isn't it pretty late there? Have a good night! :D
Ice dancing has always been my favorite. I always thought if I was going to go into skating, I would pick that. Too scared to skate alone, too ticklish for all the lifts in pairs. XD I think that is so cool you compete, I'm really impressed. Do you have any pics?
Hmm. You could always call Emily Emilio, I guess. I'm really glad they're all doing well. I think you discovered one of the secrets is high heat. Post pics of them when you get the time, I'd love to see your little ones.
Long ago, I visited the Olympic training center in Salisbury, CT, where Ekaterina Gordeeva used to train. Lovely place. So awesome you train with champs. :D Think of all the knowledge you can learn from just watching them practice. And that's so cool you're even getting to be friends. It'll make watching all the televised competitions that much more fun. :)
Wow-14! A lot of my rescues didn't make it either. At least this way, we both know any that passed had good care the remainder of their lives. I think it'll be awhile before I can try and take on a sick adult again. The babies need to get big and strong first. I have 2 friends each interested in adopting out a baby, but now I kind of don't want to let them go. They would need to show me that they know FOR SURE how to properly care for them. And it would be at least another 2 months before I'll even think about it.
I'd love to live in CA! I live in St. Louis (boring) and very part-time in Ann Arbor, MI. I love Ann Arbor (even though it's super cold there). The skating is top notch there and I train where World, US & Olympic champs train. Not on their level by any means! And they are so nice & I'm starting to develop friendships with some of them.
Get to do anything fun this weekend? And any fun Holiday plans?
My babies are doing pretty good (knock on wood). My little CT is quite the character and VERY active. I thought it was a girl, but the long ventral fin is now leading me to believe boy. Emily won't work as a name for her if she's male, but I'll hold on it for now. Matt is my lazy boy and takes his time eating, but eventually does do it and then goes to flare at Em for awhile. The twins have settled in nicely. My little girl is also an aggressive eater and my little boy is an average eater. They all get daily water changes right now and my bathroom (now called the nursery) is held at around 85 degrees to keep them warm. It makes getting me ready in there a bit uncomfortable though. I'll deal. I'm surprised I have one of the better success rates, seeing as I've never taken care of young ones before. I've gotten so many good tips from you guys, that I'll say you had a part in it :) Siobhan is my biggest success! I was so proud to see her get a bigger tank!
