Yeah, it would be a real pain in the butt. The ones you pick out will multiply pretty fast and the ones left behind will hopefully freeze to death pretty quickly if you toss the sand in the trash. You should be able to find all but the teeniest babies anyway.

Err, getting MTS out is a little harder. What I ended up doing was just sifting through with my fingers and picking out any I could find. If you wanted to, I guess you could run the sand through a sifter but I don't know if it's worth it.

I have the Marina Slim S20 (or I did) on my 20g. Nice and narrow. But I had a problem with the motor whining like a very big, very sad puppy and it made it hard to sleep so I switched to a Fluval C2. I'll probably put the S20 on another tank.

The S10 is good for plants because it doesn't create a lot of water turbulence. More water turbulence means more oxygen which means slower plant growth. Not to mention the betta will love it too. :)

Hey kfry. As long as the filter flow isn't too strong for the 2.5, that sounds like a great filter. For the first 3-4 weeks, you can easily get away with 2 50%. Once a lot of beneficial bacteria has established, you can then probably even drop it down to 1 50% a week as long as the betta shows no negative signs. Worst case scenario would be 1 25% and 1 50% a week even with the filter.

So it should be okay to add them into the tank with my fish?

Hey my roommate just got some anacharis. Is it safe to put it in water without dechlore?

Also I noticed some of the Frogbit you sent me is turning brown :( I have been putting it outside in the sunlight so I don't know why and some of the duckweed is turning white like its drying out kind of? I think once its in the tank it should be okay since I have a good light for the plants but I don't want it all to dry out before I put in tank

Yeah, that guy made for an interesting night, that's for sure.

That sounds like a good plan. I hope you're able to get your dream betta. Hmm. An HM plakat. Except those are like $15-$18 at Petco.

Anyways, I'm off for the night. Happy Easter!

It gets dangerous when you start to fall in love with bettas. Before you know it, you have betta tanks on every available flat surface, hahaha. I hope you get that plakat though. I have to admit, I do like my plakats. They have all the personality of the males but the cute faces of the females. And they don't bite their tails.

You're lucky you have an aunt in the country. We used to know a family who owned a ranch just outside of town and I would go there to work with horses and pick blackberries. Alas, they moved to the middle of nowhere in Oregon.

It sounds like this woman really shouldn't be working in a job that involves interaction with people. And I really understand, I don't like being around people much either. I'd live in the country too except I'm spoiled and used to city conviences now (like fast food restaurants right across the backyard fence, haha). So I tend to avoid most situations where I'm around people.

And while being nice and considerate is good, sometimes there just comes a point where people really need to hear it like it is. Like, sorry people but your kid is a screaming brat and you need to do more than just smile and laugh as he runs around and trips the waitress with the hot coffee. Oooh, that one's a pet peeve of mine.

She was soooo mistreating you. Ugh, people like that make me wanna dump fishwater on their heads. I doubt she would have even known what a truly sick betta looked like anyway. You're a good guy, nice and polite, and you totally deserve to be treated better than that.
