Yeah, I've seen the golden wonder killi too. As killis go, it's one of the plainer species.

Haha, you can come live in the fishkeeper's housing development that thekoimaiden and I are talking about building. We plan to have a community koi pond and a fish room that comes standard on all houses. :D Now all we need to do is raise the millions of dollars and find a contractor.

Rams love soft acid water. Bolivian rams are hardier than regular German rams.

I almost bought a pack of 50 nothobranchius korthausae eggs on aquabid last night. So tempted. But they're annuals and I don't know if I could get them to spawn again. Plus, killis prefer livefoods. Boo.

You'll know if your water isn't to the rummynoses' liking 'cause their noses will wash out. To soften it, you can always add Blackwater Extract, if you can stand the tinted water. But they should be fine. They're pretty hardy compared to some other tetras that MUST have super soft water.

I want a pair of mouthbrooding bettas called betta pulchra but they require a pH of 3.5.

Even fake plants work. Or adding driftwood or fake caves. Even flowerpots. :( What a bummer that the poor fish have to live like that. At the very worst, maybe you can get 2 more barbs and sneak them in. *shrugs* Maybe if you phrase it like this: "if you get more cherry barbs, maybe they'll breed" she might do it. And even if they did breed, I doubt any fry would survive so that wouldn't be an issue.

My pH is 7.8. My water is what thekoimaiden called moderately hard, with a GH of 11 and a KH of 8. However, my rummynoses have been in water that has been through a water softener so their water is actually GH 3 and KH 8. pH is still 7.8. My water is crazy.

Can you add in more plants? If you can break up the tank so that each male can stake out a territory that is out of sight of the other male, that might help.

I hate it when fishkeepers refuse advice. :( Cherry barbs are the most peaceful of barbs but they're still barbs.

I'll ask my dad what he thinks. He may still be open to driving all the way to Fremont, just not on the same day we go to San Francisco.

I'm not sure, I'm not as familiar with the route to Fremont as I am with the route to San Francisco. Where do you think would be a good halfway point?

No heater. I'm running out of heaters. Thank goodness it's 101 F here. Actually, it may have to be three weeks and maybe we could meet halfway? My dad was like, "It's 40 miles out of the way to Fremont on the way to San Francisco!" This from someone who just finished driving to San Francisco two days in a row last week.

Uhm, I dunno, maybe $10 for the whole deal? Just want to get rid of the fish and know that they'll go to a good home. The kuhlis, cories, and gouramis will have to go to the LFS then.

Kfry, the rummynoses are all yours. I think I might be able to drop them off on my way to SF in two weeks time (going to SF for War Horse at the Curran). I'll drop off a 10gal too. You wouldn't happen to want 5 kuhli loaches, 3 cory cats, and 3 dwarf honey gouramis too, would you?

Got a thing in the mail:

Due to increasing printing and postal costs, the October 2012 issue will be the final issue of Aquarium Fish International published. Thank you for supporting Aquarium Fish International for the past twenty-four years.

It goes on to say the balance of my subscription has been trasnferred to Dog Fancy. I don't even have a dog. o.O So no wonder you couldn't subscribe to it. This is a major bummer.
