Really, the ghosties will eat them? Wow. I honestly wouldn't have guessed. Maybe the moss will be enough to protect them?

Did you maybe have a shrimp die in there somewhere? That could drive the ammonia up. Otherwise, that is odd because it's the nitrates that should be high, not the ammonia. :/

Someone told me that ghost shrimp will eat them as a snack, seems weird. They will be juvies but still. I wanna redo the 5 gallon do badly but I need just a tiny bit more money for the plants. I already have everything also. I guess I will order all the plants tomorrow or something and then do it over the weekend.

I really want to know why in my 15 gallon I had super high ammonia readings. I had tons of plants and still got high readings.

If you're really worried about Katana eating them, I'd probably add them to the sorority. At least they'll have lots of plants and you can put the moss in there with them. I don't think the ghosties will eat them. I would think even a young RCS would be bigger than a baby ghostie and since they only eat baby shrimp, my hope is they'll leave the RCS alone.

Does Katana seem more aggressive-like? Or does he seem like he might leave them alone?

And don't worry, haha, I almost never plan things out. I should, but I don't. >.>

Grrrrrrrr my shrimp should be coming shortly and I can't get my plants ordered and shipped to my house. I don't feel like buying plants from Petsmart/Petco since they have a limited selection. Plus I kind of want to wait before adding all of my plants, as sometimes adding new plants to new dirt can cause them to melt, depending on the species.

Should I add the shrimp in the sorority with the ghosts or just add them to the 5 gallon until I redo it? I am just worried about Katana eating them or something, they will come with some moss though, so that should help a bit.

I should probably draw out a plan to do this time. I said that last time and never did it lol.

We needed the snow so much, too. It's been so dry and I don't want a drought this summer. >.>

Removing Katana and redoing the tank before the shrimp come sounds like a good plan. If you do an NPT, I'd definitely do a sand cap. Remember what OFL said. Make the bottom soil substrate like 2" and the sand cap an inch or less.

Yeah I know it snowed like 11 inches! And today got a good dump also. I can't wait to see if I can go on the 11th. Plus it is a Sunday so yeah.

Darn my shrimp didn't come yet, I think I may buy some plants before they come, cup Katana, then add the plants, shrimp, and then Katana so the territory is removed. Hopefully that will help him not eating the shrimp.

Should I make it an NPT though? It will require more work as I am aware, but it will be good for the plants. I would just need to buy the plants. What substrate/cap should I use? I think sand will be easier and the shrimp will have their prefered substrate. Now I just gotta wash more sand if it is a good idea.

Well, since snow has been so scarce this winter, I don't blame you a bit for taking a snow day. :D

Neither, I took a day off lol.

Ok I will do! I think it might be a mix of cherry shrimp. I forgot what the guy said on his aquabid auction.

Wow! Was it a school trip or do you have this week off?

Take lots of pics of the shrimp when they come. I don't know if I've ever seen a Sakura red shrimp. :)

I went snowboarding at Tahoe, it was fun! I did my first jump too! I was pretty much snowboarding on my own because the people I went with are super slow.

My shrimp are gonna come anytime soon, so excited to get them.
