Cycled the 5.5 already lol. Ammonia was super high a couple days ago, today I checked, 0,0, and the nitrates were like a ruby color lol. I need to do a lot of water changes. Oh with the CO2 getting diffused the tank is currently sitting at like 6.3 pH, I think Mars wil appreciate it, I have a bubbler at night as well.
So I read you can use Maracyn One to get rid of BGA on the plant forum because it is a bacteria. Does it make sense to you? And would the medicine affect the plants?
Yeah I will probably go with the Picomag because I can adjust the flow. I wish it would look like the Korila, as it does look nice, but you can't always get what you want lol.
Yeah they tend to be mid bottom level swimmers, they only come to the surface if I'm feding them or the bettas. The endler is super skiddish lol, I have to sneak him food when he is on the surface. He feeds on the algae though so he gets food.
Well I do know I need more water movement in the front of the tank. The problem with that powerhead is that for freshwater it is rated for 16-20 something maybe 30. Hydor makes another one that is a bit cheaper and has variable flow. Search Hydor Pico Evo-mag powerhead on Amazon, it is the 180 gph. Also my 100% diffusion rate will help out and still provide good CO2 levels as I am not agitating the surface besides at night.
Oh forgot to say, one of the tummies went MIA, I think it either jumped or a shrimp got to it of it was weak.
I know which brand you're talking about, I've read about that in magazines. Mostly meant for reef tanks which is why the flow is gentle, like a wave lapping on the coral. But my only concern is whether or not the powerhead would cause increased oxygen levels, which would defeat the purpose of C02. What do you think? Can you use a prefilter on a Hydor Koralia? That would help keep the fish from accidentally getting sucked to the powerhead.
So I'm getting 100% CO2 diffusion in the 15 and my plants are loving it. I also lowered the light height and my plants are doing much better.
So I heard that with cyno and some algae increased water floa can help. Well where the cyno is I believe those are dead spots. So I am thinking of getting a powerhead that only blows water low so the bettas are unaffected and have it on with the light timer so at night everything is peaceful. A good powerhead that I found Korila or something like that, the lowest GPH they have is 240, but people say that it isn't a jet of water but rather a gentle flow. It would just be sweeping the front of the tank so the bettas would still have a lot of room.
I wouldn't mind getting Aquavitro, but the price is probably the same for other brands, anyways I just bought a ton of ferts not too long ago..
Have you thought about making moss pads? You just get some wire mesh and some plastic mesh, put the moss inbetween, and "sew" it together. That way it stays done and you have a carpet type thing. Have you considered dwarf sag? It is pretty cheap and is a rosette plant.
