hey Sakura, i was wondering if it's okay for me to only do water change for tarris' 1 gallon every other day while he still has a super tiny bit of fin rot left (it's not getting worse but it's just there and not growing or fading away yet appearance wise)
Sakura, I have a friend who's looking for a good heater for her 1 gallon critter keeper. I was wondering if you have any good suggestions. She tried searchijg up for some but didnt find any that didnt have negative reviews. Thanks
Sakura, I was just wondering if you could comfirm that a chunk of my bettas fin gone is due to fin biting. It starte yesterday when it was becoming skightly shreded. He's like a biege seethrough HM so I could easily look for black outlines for fin rot and i dont see any. And just now a lot more of it is gone. Just the rays are left and its like half of the tail lengh wise of that part thats missing is gone. Im really sure i safe proofed everything and I'm pretty sure the filter didnt take away the chunk though there is this one split part on the lower fin which im unsure about to whether thats biting or just split open with tiny current and rapid glass surfing. Anndddd the best way to treat this is stresscoat, clean water, rearrange everything every water change, try adding a ping pong ball for him to play with, but is there anything else I can do? I'll try to send pic tmrw. Thanks for answering
edit:PMed you a pic just now, andd yaahhh thanks again
Glass surfing in itself isn't that bad. He's just getting used to his new surroundings. But if he's rubbing on things then keep an eye on him because it could mean parasites.
Turning off the filter for more than 6 hours kills off your good bacteria but since your filter is so new, it doesn't have any bacteria so it's safe to turn it back on. But if you turn off an established filter and all the bacteria dies, then when you turn it on the dead bacteria is dispersed into the water where it creates ammonia.
Also whats ur opinion on why he's glass surfing so much. Or at least in the morning when I woke up. He was glass surfing on the side a LOT. And like he was rubbing himself sometimes. But then he swam to the other side and acted like nothing happened. But then swims back to other side and starts doing some rapid glass surfing again. You think this is from stress?
Oh wait he's still glass surfing. But i do think breathing is less heavy with filter off.
And as for filter being off, is theres like a negative downside from this. What about people sayig when u turn it back on it spits out all the ammoia and stuff it collected? How does that work and what are the precautions to avoid that?
ohh and i was also wondering on your feedback of my tank set up, the thread with the pic is here: bettafish.com/showthread.php?p=1224571#post1224571
